Je Shen Story
Art has always been part of Je Shen’s life. His father, who also painted natural landscapes, introduced him to drawing and observation from an early age, encouraging his sensitivity
toward nature, light and atmosphere. During his childhood, Je Shen often went fishing with his father on small traditional canoes – the same boats that still appear today throughout many of his paintings as personal and symbolic elements connected to memory and emotion.
Throughout the years, he experimented with different materials, techniques and styles in search of a more personal form of expression. This continuous exploration eventually led him to develop the layered and luminous technique that defines his work today, allowing him to translate emotions, memories and visual sensations onto canvas with depth and intensity.
The Language of Bloom
Je Shen constructs the foundation of his works through traditional mediums such as oil and acrylic painting, grounding each composition in a classical pictorial approach. The floral expansion that defines his visual language emerges through a meticulous and almost ritualistic process: using a delicate dropper technique, he patiently shapes each petal one drop at a time. This precise gesture gives the surface a sense of movement and organic depth, transforming paint into an immersive blooming structure suspended between instinct and control.

A Dialogue Between Worlds
At the heart of Je Shen’s practice lies a continuous exchange between East and West. Deeply influenced by both Eastern sensibility and Western contemporary aesthetics and colours, his work merges two visual worlds into a singular emotional language. The contemplative harmony associated with Chinese artistic tradition coexists with a more expressive and material approach typical of Western painting, creating compositions that feel at once intimate and expansive. Rather than separating the two influences, Je Shen allows them to dissolve naturally into one another.
Where It All Began
Art entered Je Shen’s life through the figure of his father, himself a painter. During childhood, he spent long periods traveling alongside him, immersed in forests, landscapes, and open natural spaces that would later leave a lasting imprint on his artistic sensitivity. He would often accompany his father while selecting pigments, brushes, and materials, developing from an early age a fascination not only for painting itself, but for the quiet ritual behind its creation. Those formative memories continue to resonate throughout his work today, where nature is not merely depicted, but deeply remembered.
